FORENSICS

How does the world investigate the truth?

What is Forensics?
What is Truth?
What is Evidence? What is proof?

If you don't get caught are you still wrong?

Innocent until proven Guilty OR Guilty until proven Innocent?

How do we justify our decisions?

These are some of the questions students will be answering and learning about during our forensics unit.

(Click on the image to see it full size)

To start the unit, we discussed what we already know about Forensics and brainstormed key words... turns out there is a lot we need to learn! This is a whole class wordle. We will be comparing this one to one at the end of the term so see if there is a change in our forensic vocabulary.

Story Time: building confidence for speeches

Students in Room 1 are practicing speaking in front of an audience, building confidence and using expression when they speak. Each week they choose a picture book to share with their group, they practice reading it with expression at home and then bring it to school to read aloud.

SPEECHES 2010

Speeches, the word makes some people cringe and hide away whilst others thrive at the opportunity to speak amongst their peers. This term they are here, with some very interesting topics:

1. Is our climate really changing? Where's the evidence - how do we know?

2. "Show me don't tell me." Talk about air pollution and how to reduce it where you live.

3. One mans trash is another mans treasure - persuade us to recycle.

4. "Make today, better than yesterday, and tomorrow better than today." What are you doing for sustainability?

5. Science is simple common sense at its best.~ Thomas Huxley. In the name of science it is common sense to kill whales

PrEP 2010

We had an exciting PrEP Market Day! Room 1 students worked extremely hard to create interesting, high quality products to sell. It took 5 weeks to plan, produce and sell our goods to our community. Here are some signs created to advertise Room 1's business ventures:

We are confident that our class produced the best products overall, with teddy bears made out of recycled clothing, classy wooden coasters, pinatas with lollies inside them, a dart throwing competition with beautiful origami balls with lollies inside as prizes, poi for sale, and delicious home made baking!
